I
am currently accepting private bassoon students at all levels in the
New York City area. My lesson studio is conveniently located in
Midtown East, and I also give lessons off-site in certain circumstances. In honing my teaching skills, I have found that learning is a multifaceted process that requires constant creativity. While emphasizing fundamental skills, I incorporate many artistic and intellectual connections, allowing the breadth of the student’s academic experience to enlighten his or her musicality. I have extensive experience teaching students at all levels. While completing my doctoral studies at Michigan State University, I was a bassoon instructor providing private lessons to music majors and non-majors, coaching chamber music, teaching classes in reed making and bassoon methods, as well as designing and launching a new class in audition preparation. I have also presented masterclasses and coached sectionals at Pennsylvania State University and Hunter College. In July 2012, I presented a lecture recital on the music of Carl Maria von Weber at the International Double Reed Society convention. In addition to my college teaching experience, I teach students at all levels, including beginners, high school students, and adult students.
